“NMIT HACKS- 2023”

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering successfully organized the sixth edition of NMIT Hacks from May 5th to May 7th, 2023, carrying forward the event's illustrious legacy. Over 3000 applications were received with more than 800 innovative ideas submitted from across India. The event provided a robust platform for aspiring participants to showcase their creativity and problem-solving skills.

The first-place winner was awarded Rs. 40,000, the second-place winner received Rs. 20,000, and the third-place winner was granted Rs. 15,000. Additionally, there were several Track prizes from Devfolio and Sponsor prizes from Polygon, Solana, Replit, and Filecoin, amounting to a total prize pool of Rs. 1,50,000.

The event not only celebrated innovation but also fostered a collaborative and competitive spirit among the participants, making the sixth edition of NMIT Hacks a resounding success.

• Tejashree Krishna Murthy and Kanaad D S, students of the Department of CSE, were awarded the Nitte Meenakshi Hegde Memorial Gold Medal for being the Best All-Round Girl Student and Best All-Round Boy Student, respectively, from the graduating batch of 2022-23 on 18th November 2023.
• The CSE students' cricket team at NMIT emerged as champions in Aikyam - The Cricket Championship for students and Faculty, an event organized by the Department of Physical Education and Sports from September 23rd to 25th, 2023.
• Kanaad D S, Chinmay Ganapati Hegde, Krishnamurthy M Naik, Ajit Hegde won the Best Project of the Year in the 46th series of Student Project Program- State Level Seminar and Exhibition held at Alva's Institute of Engineering and Technology, Moodubidire on 11th and 12th August 2023 (KSCST).
• Gagan M S, student of second year has secured 1st place in Chess [Men] Inter Collegiate Bengaluru Division Level Tournament held in August 2023.

• Mrs.Ramya Srikanteswara secured first position in singing competition held on 26th July conducted for faculty as part of Swatantrata Jashn at NMIT, Bangalore.
• Dr. Vijaya Shetty S, and Mrs. Deepthi Shetty, received the certificates of appreciation from Dr. H. C. Nagaraj, Principal for mentoring two winning teams in the Business Proposal Competition that was held on 26th May 2023 at NMIT.
• Dr. Dileep Reddy Bolla was nominated as an Editor for Iterative International Publishers (IIP), Michigan, USA a Peer Reviewed book Chapter on Futuristic trends in IOT 2023.
• Ms. Mamatha Bai B G, and a Final Year Student Team received the "Best Paper Award" for the Research Paper entitled "Virtual Medical Assistant in English and Kannada Languages " in the International Conference on Applied Intelligence and Sustainable Computing (ICAISC 2023) organized by SDMCET, Dharwad in June - 2023.

• Dr Vani Vasudevan visited Louisiana state, USA to evaluate B.S Computer Science program in November- 2022 as a Program Evaluator under Computing Accreditation Commission (CAC) of ABET.

• Aditya Vijaykumar & Anshul Kumar students of 7th semester CSE Department competed and were among the top 10 finalist teams at ETHIndia 2022. ETHIndia 2022 was the world's biggest Ethereum Hackathon with over 1800+ participants from 321 cities & 34 countries, held in Bangalore from December 2-4, 2022. Their project bagged USD 10000 as prize from different partners at the event, namely - ETHGlobal, CoinDCX, EY, Filecoin and Nord Finance.
• Ritvik Singh, a third semester CSE student, won the bounty offered by web3.storage during the Phoenix Guild Hacker House event, which took place between 2nd December 2022- 4th December 2022.
• Ms. Alisha Ahmed and Ms. Gagana M, final year students from CSE Dept., received Best Project Award for "Medical Training Using Virtual Reality" at KSCST 45th-SSP-State Level Exhibition held on 12 & 13 August 2022 at VTU, Belagavi.
