Centre for Design Engineering and Process Simulation (CDEPS) is a collaborative platform for design innovation and design solutions in association with industry and professionals. The Centre uses software for conceptual design, preliminary design, product development, process simulation, design optimization for product and process through simulation and manufacturing tools.
Objective
The objective for the Center is to create an environment where students, design professionals and faculty can access world-class resources for design, analysis and manufacturing methodologies in support of efficient product development.
Thrust Areas of Research
1 | 3D Solid Modeling- Part Modeling, Assembly & Surface Design |
2 | Design of Aerospace & Automotive products |
3 | Ergonomics for Vehicle Design |
4 | Engineering Optimization |
5 | Tool Design |
6 | Structural & Thermal Analysis |
7 | Robotics-Static, Kinematic, Dynamic analysis & Task simulation |
The focus of CDEPS is to develop today's engineers into tomorrow's professionals by moulding them to be creative and innovative professionals who can provide solutions for real life problems through interdisciplinary activities. The Centre provides 3D design solutions to create mechanical, automotive and aero products based on industrial designs. The tools used in the Centre help in designing products based on kinematics; create best-in-class surfaces for applications in Automotive and Aerospace applications. Students and faculty working in CDEPS design products with aesthetic and ergonomic shapes using Knowledge-Based Engineering, Geometry and Finite element based optimization of design, Jigs and Tooling Design, Mold Tooling Design and 3D Electrical Design.
The CDEPS is equipped with:
Students and faculty at the Center work on innovative and creative development of design components from the conceptual phase to the product development phase. This is done through process simulation and optimization in diverse areas of specialization.
PLM Discover is a single integrated software package combining many capabilities: design software (CAD), market-leading manufacturing (CAM) and robot programming tools, easy-to-use structural analysis (CAE) and collaborative product data management (PDM).
The Design Master combines students unleash their creativity and design a vast array of parts from simple to complex. The unique spec-driven modeling approach for complex mechanical shapes ensures they can manipulate free form surfaces intuitively.
SIMULIA Master Solutions provides an environment that allows users to perform realistic simulations and manage data and processes that are intrinsic components of the simulations. Integrating simulation into education processes enhances the understanding of product design and manufacturing by providing critical insights on product performance and reducing the need for physical prototyping and testing
This product offers students a design solution for specific complex processes such as cast & forged parts, jigs and tooling, and 3D wire harness design, to name a few. Students can define complex parts in record time while reducing repetitive operations and learning quickly
With CATIA Systems Master, the RFLP approach (Requirements, Functional, Logical and Physical Design) provides full traceability during product development and product introduction. Different disciplines like mechanics, electronics or hydraulics can use the open Modeling language in order to simulate the system or sub-systems.
Manufacturing Master delivers a powerful combination of solutions that allow students to gain "hand-on" shop floor experiences via a virtual environment. Students can interact with a wide variety of NC machine tools, robotic work cells, and other mechanical devices to apply what they have learned and test their understanding.
3DVIA Composer is an easy to learn, intuitive software that reuses 3D design data to effortlessly create high-quality, impactful downstream product information, including documentation, technical drawings, animations and digital exams
Students are trained based on the specific themes, current practices and the needs of the industry. Students become confident to work in an independent manner. Students learn during the semester and in the summer vacation.
CDEPS offers knowledge based high quality corporate training on all Dassault products. Corporate students undergo customized training programs as per the specific requirements of the company. The programs are structured in consultation with the Technical team and the HR of the company.
CDEPS strives to support M.Tech and Ph.D students work through live industry projects.
CDEPS offers complete solutions in Data Migration, Design and Simulation of Engineering Products of all kinds using CAD/CAM/CAE Tools with scalability based on customer requirement.
The Centre is currently working on research projects pertaining to Design and Development of Centrifugal casting machine, Centrifuge casting machine, Stir casting machine and development of gearbox assembly for vacuum circuit breakers.
