NMIT congratulates Unisys Cloud 20/20 Prize winners

Unisys Cloud 20/20 contest aims to provide engineering students across the country with a platform to offer innovative ideas around disruptive technology trends. It is open to research students, post-graduates as well as pre-final and final year engineering students in Computer Science, Information Technology, and other related fields. Students can submit project ideas in broad technical areas as per the contest guidelines. These ideas will be evaluated by the Unisys Technical team, and based on the innovation/merit of the idea, selected for the next round, where students will work on their project idea and demonstrate it. This year it had around 1271 participations across India. Our final year project group titled "A crowd sourcing based android application for structural health monitoring and data anlytics using cloud computing" consisting of team membersAkritiTyagi(4th year), Vinaydeep Kaur(4th year), M Kritika(4th year) and PratimaKumari(4th year) guided by Mr. SanketSalvi have won 2nd Runners Up position and have awarded with 1 lakh rupees cash prize.


Apex Training, Research & Development Institution in the field of Renewable Energy

Loans for students

National Securities Depository Limited (NSDSL) e-Governance Infrastructure Ltd., has developed Vidya Lakshmi Portal. This portal has facilities of education loan, scholarship and other student friendly facilities through one link. The portal is gateway to Banks for education loan & also has linkages with National e-Scholarship Portal (NeSP).

NMIT congratulates HACKATHON Prize winners

Smart India Hackathon 2017 is a national level 36 hour non-stop programming competition. A total of 7500+ submissions from students all over the country were submitted. 'THE ARTISANS' team from Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology was selected for the finals for their novel idea on 'secure transfer of data using stegnongraphy'. The ARTISANS approach used augmented reality AR. The team built their own encryption algorithm for this work. The Artisans bagged the second runners up prize. The team was awarded an ISRO hand crafted trophy and a cash prize of Rs 50,000/= which was presented by the chairman of ISRO. The team members were Niharika MR, Shai Sundar, T Keerthana , Anurag , Amith KK and Sarang Parikh (the lead).

Students' Intern at North Dakota State University, USA

​​To promote matters of mutual academic interest, NMIT has signed a MoU with ​​North Dakota State University​ (​NDSU​)​ which ​is ​a renowned Land Grant Research University. NDSU is located in Fargo in the State of North Dakota, USA.​ Under the banner of this MoU there are internship opportunities for NMIT students. Ms.Amruthavarshini, Dept. of ISE, Ms.Bhagyashree Ramesha and Ms.Chaitra Patil from Dept. of Civil Engg have been selected to do their Internship cum project work at NDSU. The internship will be for a six month period starting from January 2017. The above students will have a unique global exposure in learning and execution of advanced technologies.

Five days workshop on Aerospace engineering

A five days workshop on Aerospace engineering was conducted by the Aeronautical branch.In his introductory & welcome address Dr. S. Venkateshwaran Prof & HOD AERO stressed on the importance and rapid stride that is being made in the field of aeronautical engineering.

The thought provoking workshop was to provide a platform for imparting specific knowledge and hands on experience in the areas of propulsion, aerodynamics, structures, aircraft materials, computational fluid dynamics techniques.

Dr. V. Ganesan professor emeritus department of Mechanical Engineering IIT Madras, who was the Chief Guest said that students in aerospace engineering and allied disciplines should evolve their interest in applied research, particularly in propulsion, gas turbine technology and combustion thermodynamics.

Three final-year students from ECE Dept, NMIT - Santosh, Sandeep and Yuvraj, (under the leadership of two professionals) made NMIT proud by winning the runners-up prize in MED4DEV India Israel Affordable Healthcare Hackathon (Category: Smart Pills & Digestible). They developed MediBand, which helps to choose the right medicine with the help of LED and buzzers.

Raghunandan Representing India on Standardization Panel

Prof Raghunandan, from the ECE dept., is now a member of the Standardization Panel for the "Internet of Things" in the Bureau of Indian Standards. He will represent India at related ISO/IEC Standards meetings. This is a proud achievement for Prof Raghunandan and the Institute.

Team STUDSAT-2 is hosting the Student Satellite Training Program for the third time

Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology (NMIT) has been the lead for Project STUDSAT-1 which has established a Small Satellite Research Center for the design and development of satellites by students. STUDSAT -1 was the first Pico satellite designed and developed by a team of students from seven different colleges across South India. This effort was under the able guidance of ISRO. The Pico satellite was launched by PSLV C-15, ISRO on 12 July 2010. The satellite is tracked by Nitte Amateur Satellite Tracking Center (NASTRAC) at the NMIT campus Bangalore.

The enthusiasm and team spirit of STUDAT-1 paved way for another project "STUDSAT-2" also led by NMIT.

Team STUDSAT-2 is hosting the third Student Satellite Training Program (SSTP-3) from 5 to 8 July, 2016. The objective of the Training Program is to strengthen the technical capability leading to a successful STUDSAT-2 mission. Expert Technical Talks will be given by ISRO Scientists. There will sessions by leading Indian Space Industry Experts. Participants will get an in depth understanding of small satellite development.

Prof U.R. Rao will be present at the inaugural function where he will engage with students and provide insightful thoughts on the design and development of satellites.

NMIT in collaboration with Kore Fabrik in India.

At NMIT we continue to better the learning experience of our students. We have collaborated with a US based firm, Kore Fabrik. Our faculty team diligently worked with Kore Fabrik in setting up a team of eight interns from technical and managerial backgrounds who will be paid to execute projects for KoreFabrik in India. A boot-camp of ten days is organized from 8 June 2016 for all the eight interns. These students are expected to put in 20 hours of work a week after college hours and will be paid in return for their work. Kore Fabrik has also hired two management students who will be involved in the marketing of their products and services in India.

Conceived as a social media platform for academic institutions, Kore Fabrik has collaborated with NMIT/NSM in a pioneering attempt to have students as paid interns to further their technical and managerial effort required for the Indian market development and expansion. Faculty members from NMIT and NSM act as mentors to these interns and share their knowledge and guide the interns locally based on the requirements of Kore Fabrik.

Nanoscience and MEMS is an emerging field of research today. In this field, a 5-day National workshop on "Nanomaterials and Micro Systems" was organized at Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, Bangalore, in July 2014. The workshop was inaugurated by Padma Bhushan Prof. Dr. V. K. Aatre. Over 100 delegates from Karnataka and neighbouring states attended the workshop.
