Project Multi-Model Mobility

Multi-modal mobility consists of Smart traffic control and Smart parking systems. In smart traffic system, traffic will be controlled dynamically based on the density of vehicles. Roads with high vehicle density are given the higher priority. In Smart parking systems, the status of each parking slot is displayed on a LCD, based on which the vehicle owner can decide the slot to be used.

Work on Multi-Model Mobility is carried out by Giridhar N R, B N Abhinava, Ghanavanth V and Akshay Bharadway K H of 6th Sem CSE under the guidance of Dr. M N Thippeswamy, Prof & HoD of Computer Science and Engineering Department and Sandeep R K, Senior Employee of Nokia Communication Bangalore.

 

Navigation and Collision avoidance system for the Visually Impaired

Dr. K. Venkatesh, Dr. N. Nalini, Dr.Thippeswamy (of the CS Department) are working on a project the objective of which is to improve the ability of the Visually Impaired to commute independently.

This Project is funded by the DST and is to be executed over 28 months.

The main features of the project are to provide :

  • Integrated solution providing Collision Avoidance, Navigation & Pothole detection
  • Modular augmentation of the White Cane depending on the needs of the Visually Impaired person
  • Configurable, Low cost, Light and Rugged device, Several technologies (e.g. sensor integration) will be utilized.
Project on Adaptive Fault Tolerance Frame Work for Cloud Computing Applications Activities

The above project of Dr. Nalini. N, Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, has been selected by Government of Karnataka, Vision Group on Science and Technology (under the category CENTRES OF INNOVATIVE SCIENCE & ENGINEERING EDUCATION (CISEE)) for the financial year 2015-16.

R&D Activities

The faculty members of the department along with the students actively pursue Research in advanced topics of Computer Science. This enables them to keep up to date with the technological progress in various aspects of Computer Science. This will also rekindle the inquisitiveness in the students which will prepare them to assimilate technological advances that are happening at a very rapid pace.
