A 2-day hands-on workshop was conducted in September 2015 by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. The workshop was inaugurated by the chief Guest Prof. Rudra Pratap Chairman, CeNSE IISc. The Guest of Honour was Prof. M. M. Nayak, Visiting Professor, CeNSE IISc.
The workshop was attended by faculty members and students from colleges across southern India.
After the inauguration, Prof. Rudra Pratap delivered a speech on developing products using MEMS sensors. He also emphasized that India should do product based research so that funding can come from Industries.
Prof. M. M. Nayak delivered a lecture on packaging MEMS Sensor to integrate VLSI circuitry.
Several sessions were facilitated by the technical team from FTD Infocom Pvt. Ltd. There were hands-on sessions on MEMS+ software which is the MEMS CAD tool for integrating the VLSI circuitry using the Cadence tool. There were hands-on sessions on Coventerware MEMS CAD tool. A MEMS based Accelerometer was designed and simulated in the two sessions.
The workshop ended with a valedictory ceremony.
