INDEPENDENCE DAY (SWACHH BHARAT)

Place: NMIT Campus

15th August 2019

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (SBA) is a nation-wide campaign that aims to clean up the streets, roads and infrastructure of India’s cities, towns and rural areas. The objectives of Swachh Bharat include eliminating open defecation through the construction of household-owned and community- owned toilets and establishing an accountable mechanism of monitoring toilet uses.

On the account of Independence day i.e. on 15th August 2019, Swachh Bharat was organised by NSS unit of NMIT. Enthusiastic NSS volunteers and students of NMIT actively participated in cleaning the campus. Around 40 participants took part in it.

FLOOD RELIEF FUND COLLECTION

Date: 19-08-2019 , 20-08-2019

To mobilize funds towards relief to mitigate the loss of property, damages and human life in North Karnataka regions due to heavy rains and severe floods, the NSS unit collected funds from students, teaching and non teaching staff and donated it to North Karnataka regions through Nitte Education Trust, Mangaluru. In addition to this one da y’s salary of all teaching and non teaching staff was also donated

NSS Unit of NMIT Collected fund relief amount of Rs.33,033(Thirty Three Thousand and Thirty Three Rupees) on 19/08/2019 and 20/08/2019.

RAMADAN AYURVEDA MEDICAL CAMP

Date: 21 August,2019

The NSS unit of NMIT organized an Ayurveda medical camp which provided free consultation with Ayurveda specialists. Obesity, menstrual irregularities, back pain, arthritis, thyroid and eye specialists had visited the campus. The other health check-ups which included weight check, BP check, sugar check, cholesterol check, bone mineral density check, prescribing treatment plan etc wer e conducted during the camp. The students as well as faculty members of the institution witnessed the medical camp.

FIRST YEAR INDUCTION PROGRAM

Place: New Seminar Hall Date:24th and 25th August 2019

NSS of NMIT conducted induction program to 1st year students. 6 section students were taken to the hall above the canteen for the program. . Mr. Jeevan and Mrs. Rachana pai sung invocation song. Prof. Hemanth, head of NSS addressed the freshers. All the students actively took part in the event.

All first year students had two days induction program .Motive of this program was to give information about activities that are going to be conducted in NSS and advantages of joining NSS like building leadership qualities,how NSS enhances our character,What are the noble activities we do,not only social service but also we include community building. It was a good program to motivate fresh students about engineering and make them join to NSS. Nanith, Samanvitha and Nischith briefed about the NSS NMIT.

TEACHERS DAY CELEBRATION

Place: New Seminar Hall

Date: 5th September 2019

The day started with distributing the greeting cards to the teachers of NMIT by the volunteers of NSS.After distributing the cards to teachers they were very happy seeing the hand-made greetings cards done by NSS members, its feels nostalgia like we used to prepare greetings cards in our school and taking blessings of teachers.Teachers' Day in India is celebrated on 5th September to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. He was a renowned scholar, recipient of Bharat Ratna, first Vice- President and second President of independent India. He was born on 5 September, 1888. As an educationist, he was an advocate of edification, and was a distinguished envoy, academician, and above all a great teacher.

We had a motivational speech by Dr K S Nagendra where he guided us with his word.Along with the chief guest Mr.Hemanth kumar N(NSS officer) and Mr.Desai Gowda from mechanical department graced the gathering with their presence.

VISIT TO BLIND SCHOOL AND ORPHANAGE

Date: 8th September, 2019.

Places: Ashakirana free residential school for the blind and Bapuji old age home

The day started with our visit to the blind school,NSS volunteers have distributed chocolates and biscuits for the children present there.The main intention to visit the blind school was to show that no disability can stop you from achieving what u want.The children over there are incredibly talented despite of their disabilities.

VISIT TO GOVERNMENT SCHOOL

Place: Government school in Harohalli village.

Date: 2nd October, 2019.

October 2 is celebrated as Gandhi Jayanti to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. One of the biggest figures in India's struggle for independence in 1947, Gandhi was the manbehind the Satyagraha movement and the civil disobedience, based on non-violence.

On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, various competition were held in the government school in Harohalli village near NMIT. Competition like drawing competition, essay writing were held.

WALKATHON

Date : 02 October 2019.

Place : Harohalli, Nagenahalli

On behalf of Gandhi Jayanthi Walkathon was organised from Harohalli to Nagenahalli . The theme was Swachh Bharat and Plastic free India. The event was initiated with the speech by The Principal and HOD of Mechanical Department.Then Walkathon was started from Haraohalli. NSS members said the slogans cheerfully and motivated the local citizens.

BLOOD DONATION CAMP

Date: 18 October 2019

Blood donation is the most sacred and valued among all the donations in the world. One unit of blood saves three lives. Carrying the same spirit, the students as well as the faculty members of the NMIT actively participated in blood donation camp. The camp was conducted in association with Rastrothana Parishat and Rotary Club, Bengaluru. Totally 250 units of blood was mobilized.

EYE-CHECK UP

Date: 19 October 2019

We the NSS unit of NMIT organized a Free Eye Checkup camp at college as a part of Social Activity. Dr.Prashanth from Naada World Welfare trust, Bangalore., visited our college to conduct this camp on 19th October 2019.
