Webinar on Preparing for Job opportunities amid the Covid-19 pandemic was organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering for the students of the 2nd and 3rd year on 18th and 16th July 2020. The sessions focused on discussing the various rounds that a company conducts as a part of placement activities and also the topics required for aptitude, English comprehension, and technical rounds were discussed with the participants. The Department of Computer Science & Engineering has conducted e-Workshop on Mobile Application Development for Covid-19 Pandemic from 3rd to 8th July 2020. The SDP was organized to train the students on Android App development, SQLite DB, working with sensors and its application, web services, and Android Apps from Industry perspective. Hands-on Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Data Science and Big Data Analytics was organized by the Department of Computer Science & Engineering from 3rd March 2020 to 7th March 2020. The FDP has been organized to introduce the R Programming and Data Analytics for our Faculty Members. Faculty from Dept. of CS & E and other departments of NMIT attended this program. Mr. V. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, organized a session for the students of 2nd year as an initiative towards Start-ups, on 28th February 2020, on the topic: Entrepreneurship and Innovation. The session was conducted by Dr. Raghunath Govindachari, the Cofounder and CTO of Senswiz Technologies Pvt Ltd. He started the session by introducing the Scope and Pros of being an Entrepreneur in today`s industry. The session gave an insight into things that are required to keep in mind when one chooses to become an entrepreneur.
A 2 Day Hands-on Workshop on DEVOPS was organized by the Department of CSE in January 2020.It contains expert sessions by Mr.SanuSatyadarshi and Mr. Aditya from Unisys, Bangalore mainly for 2nd and 3rd year students.
Under the ‘UnnatBharathAbiyan 2020’ program, the department of CSE visited few villages namelyMuthur, Bettalsoor, Doddajalla, Tarahunuse and Talagavarato to identify and prioritize the needs of villagers. A survey was done on various days in the month of January 2020. The enthusiastic teachers and the Head of Department, Dr. M N Thippeswamy also accompanied and encouraged students to complete the survey.Based on this knowledge the appropriate departments of the government are being contacted and a joint action is planned to satisfy the same.

Unity, Bangalore organized an introductory one-day workshop on “Technologies required in AR and VR” for the students of Computer Science & Engineering Department, in August 2019, at Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, Bangalore.
The workshop was mainly aimed at introducing and enabling students to use the Unity tool for implementing Virtual Reality(VR) and game development which are currently skills in high demand and have a huge scope of growth in the near foreseeable future. All the students of the 5th semester from CSE attended the workshop.

Career Development Program by “Germany Internship”, “Singapore Internship”, “JobGig”, “Vani Institute”, “COE talk on IoT” “Byju’s” , “Philips”, “Time”, “Talk on Unix” and “Placement Activities” for all students of the department is being organized by the Department of Computer Science & Engineering . Discussion about the exam pattern of CAT, GRE, IIM and advantages of studying in abroad, comprehension passages, mathematical skills like computing multiplication of two large numbers and discussion about techno management courses were carried out. Group discussions were conducted with 7 to 8 students in a group. The aim of the program was to assist individuals, by providing information on alternatives available to them, at the College and in the community, so that they can achieve their full potential. Career development program by idp –International Education Specialists was organized for the students of CSE in Nov 2018, where they guided the final year students about Overseas Education.
Department of Computer Science & Engineering hosted a full-day “MongoDB” training in Sep 2018, for the 5th sem students. The resource persons for the training were Mr. Chaitanya Tavva, Ms. Jeevitha, and Ms. Lavanya (supporting Staff) of Glisten Project Solution Private Ltd. Database commands like create, insert, select and update were discussed. A demo on connection to database in Java was also given.
Members of the faculty and 5th semester students of CSE visited Unisys Data Centre in Sep 2018. They were taken in the Enterprise Research Labs (ERL), to get a view of how the data centre infrastructure works. The team was shown and specifications of many of high-end hardware were explained, such as different Types of servers (Tower, Rack, Blade/Modular), DELLEMC servers from generation 11 to 14, with Intel Xeon processors, Hard Disks for storage with a capacity of many TB’s, Switches, routers and cables for networking, Data Domain Servers used for backups, HCIs and Virtualization and Cloud Computation.
A talk on Blockchain was organized by the department of CSE in Aug 2018 to give an insight into what “Unoversity” is providing. “Unoversity” is an online Blockchain knowledge base platform, providing e-learning solutions across the world. This initiative was taken to build the Blockchain ecosystem and to provide free blockchain e-courses to students who are pursuing their education at Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology.

LaTeX is a high-quality typesetting system; it includes features designed for the production of technical and scientific documentation. LaTeX is the de facto standard for the communication and publication of scientific documents. Summer training on Basics of Java and Mobile Application Development with Android was conducted in Mar 2018. It was organized by Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology. The main topics covered were on basics of Java for mobile app development, intents, services, sensor framework and the introduction to mobile app testing. Department of CSE,NMIT, in partnership with Skillenza, organized a competition Titled: IoT and ML Hack of 2017-2018 on 9& 10 Feb 2018. In the light of the rapid advances in ioT technologies and its wide acceptance in our country, we organized this event to attract avid students from all over the country to showcase their talent in knowledge in this domain. The participants were required to present practical solutions addressing real life problems by building and demonstrating prototype hardware and software Apps. 260 Applicants registered for the First Round. 43 teams registered for the Hackathon , out of which, after elimination 20 teams entered the final round. The core team consisted of Head Of Department Dr Thippeswamy MN,Faculty-in-Charge Mrs. Archana Naik, and Student Coordinators, Ashwin Gerard Colaco, Abdul Mueez, Satyajeet Sahoo, Saahithi Pradhan.

Students learnt how to create applications on cloud using Sales Force Platform as a Service and how to launch the application on cloud. The importance of learning cloud application development in the perspective of placements was also highlighted.

Ns-3 is a discrete-event network simulator for Internet systems, targeted primarily for research and educational use.ns-3 software infrastructure encourages the development of simulation models which are sufficiently realistic to allow ns-3 to be used as a real time network emulator, interconnected with the real world and which allows many existing real-world protocol implementations to be reused within ns-3.
In this workshop, the aim is to familiarize the participants with the state of the art simulation tools. The workshop will introduce the basics of network simulators and major components of NS2 and ns-3. It highlights its scope for networking research. Ns-3 encourages the development of simulation models which are sufficiently realistic to allow ns-3 to be used as a real time network emulator, interconnected with the real world and allows many existing real-world protocol implementations to be reused within ns-3. Also, covers the simulation environment of these simulators and performance analysis of the protocols.
Why to attend the workshop
Network simulation is one of the most prevalent evaluation methodologies in the area of computer networks. Network simulators allow one to model an arbitrary computer network by specifying both the behavior of the network nodes and the communication channels. It provides a virtual environment for an assortment of desirable features.

Hands-on Workshop on "Mobile Application Development using Android" was conducted from 11 – 16 Jan 2017. It was organized by CSE and was attended by 70+ participants.
