The department of Aeronautical Engineering in association with FALCON, Aeronautical Students’ Association, has organised a Guest lecture on “My Experiments with Aeronautics” by Prof. Srikumar Pullat, Ex-Director, ADE, DRDO on 24th February 2020 at NMIT Bengaluru.
Asteria-Astronomy club of NMIT was inaugurated by Mr. Raghavendra Auradkar, Senior officer and DG of police and Dr. Rajaram Nagappa, Professor, National Institute for Advanced Studies, IISc was the Guest of Honour on 14th November 2019. The event was presided over by Prof. N R Shetty, Chancellor, Central University of Karnataka, Dr. H C Nagaraj, Principal, NMIT.
An industrial visit was arranged for 4th Sem Aero students to CIM Tools Private Limited,., Bangalore, the manufacturers of various aircraft parts. Students obtained firsthand experience on various manufacturing technics
The 5th semester students of Department of Aeronautical Engineering have attended Flight Training Program from 30th October to 8th November 2019 at IIT Kanpur. This 10day residential course on “Introduction to Experiments in Flight” is a flying experience and opportunity to observe routines involved in various phases of flight, eg., take-off, climbing, landing, turning, etc. Twenty students along with two faculty members of Aeronautical Engineering attended this course which was conducted from 30th October to 8th November 2019. During the course the concepts like, modelling the atmosphere, Aerodynamic Forces and moments, aircraft instruments, static and dynamic equilibrium were taught and experiments on weight and centre of gravity, calibration of control surface, drag polar and neutral point were conducted. The manoeuvres like Dutch roll and Phugoid were also experienced in addition with basic flight envelope, yawing and banking.
The Department of Aeronautical Engineering has organized a Seminar & Workshop “AEROVISION 2019” on “Recent Trends in Aeronautical Engineering” in honor of The Pioneer of India's Space Program ‘Dr. Vikram Sarabhai’ on his 100th Birth Anniversary, under the aegis of “FALCON” Aeronautical Students’ Association from 14th to 19th October 2019 at New Seminar Hall.
‘FALCON’ Aeronautical Students’ Association organized a Freshers Day for second year students of Aeronautical Engineering on 07th September 2019 and the Technical Interaction was arranged with Hyeokmin Kwon, Hanyang University, South Korea. Students interacted with resource person about research and higher studies opportunities in foreign countries.
The Aeronautical Engineering Department of NMIT has established tie-ups with CMTI, it is an R & D organization focusing its efforts mainly on harnessing know-how in the manufacturing technology sector to practical purposes and assisting technological growth in the country. CMTI has the role of being a Catalyst and a Key Player in manufacturing technology growth in the country.Institute offer training programs that would help the students and faculty gain new manufacturing technology perspectives in their chosen field of study. The courses enable the students to enhance their career opportunities. Such collaborations generate an opportunity of student and faculty exchange amongst institutes.
An industrial visit has been arranged for 6thsem students to TANEJA AEROSPACE AND AVIATION LMT, Hosur on Apr 5, 2019, for exposing our students to Aircraft manufacturing and Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (AMRO) process.
35 students of NMIT along with 3memebrs of the faculty visited to "INS HANSA – NAVAL BASE" on 30March, 2019 at Naval Base, Goa.
115 students of NMIT along with 6 memebrs of the faculty participated in "Aero India 2019" on 23 February 2019 at Airforce Station Yelahanka, Bengaluru.
Mr. Akash Jain, Deputy Manager (Business Development), Pratt & Whitney India Training Center addressed the students about the aircraft engine systems and offered specialized aircraft propulsion trainings (6-weeks programs) at the P&W Hyderabad Training Center.
4th semester students of Aeronautical Engineering visited CIM Tools Pvt Ltd, Bangalore, on 01 February 2019. CIM Tools is a major Aerospace Manufacturing company supplying components to aerospace primes. Students witnessed manufacturing of various components of Aircrafts.
A visit is organized for students of 3rd semester on 29 Sep, 2018 on the occasion of Parakram Parv the Indian Air Force airfield in Yelahanka, Bengaluru

Students of 8th semester witnessed various manufacturing processes and heat treatment process involved in production of aircraft structural components at Mahindra aerospace on 27 th January, 2018.
Students of 6th semester witnessed various divisions and facilities such as propulsion, C-CAAD, structural, acoustics etc. at National Aerospace laboratory on 16 January 2018.
The Aeronautical Engineering Department conducted a Technical demonstration, in collaboration with CMTI-Bangalore, on “Dynamic Measurement and Analysis” on 24 Nov 2016
The Department demonstrates “Dynamic measurement and Analysis” in association with ADVANCED MACHINE TOOL TESTING FACILITY which is a joint project of the Indian Machine Tool Industry, the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Government of India and CMTI. The demonstration pertains to the evaluation of the dynamic performance of Structures.
The department has had discussions with Maruthsakha Aerospace and Aviation Services Private Limited. The discussions pertain to Internships to Final Year Students of Aeronautical Engineering Department and an Incubation Centre at our Department for encouraging young students.
It was also decided to have a MOU with them after thorough discussions with Representatives of the company and Principal, Director and Dean of the College.
