The Department of MCA was established in 2006 with a sanctioned student intake of 60. The program is recognised by the AICTE and is affiliated to the VTU.
The students of this discipline are taught mathematics/accountancy, quantitative analysis & software skills and are trained in technical and management skills to handle computer applications and software problem solving situations.
The department has an association called SPARKS, which conducts seminars, workshops, special guest lectures, technical competitions, paper presentations, spot programming etc. throughout the academic year. |

The department has the following laboratories: Database Lab - Here, Oracle 9i is used as back-end and Visual Basic/Visual Age for Java as front-end ; the latest Java version is used at the Network Lab. Mini projects like Web Server, Proxy Server and Mail Server are developed using Java; Unix Lab mainly focuses on system software concepts. Programs on Shell scripts, Lex and Yacc are executed in this lab; Software Design lab using Rational Rose Enterprise Suite of IBM Programming Lab is supported with softwares like C, C++, Cobol to implement data structures & C, C++, Cobol mini projects; Project Lab is well-equipped with the latest software and computer systems. Students are provided with facilities to develop projects on various platforms. They have access to the central library which is well-stocked with books, IT related magazines, journals both national & international. The department also has a CD library with nearly 70 CD titles. |

The final year students of the department undertake projects on live applications in companies and research organisations contributing to the improvement of quality and productivity with a conscious perspective through the application of computer concepts. The areas covered in projects include Computer Applications, Software Engineering, Management, Object oriented analysis & design, Data mining, Image processing, Networking concepts and Management Information System ERP. |

The college arranges for campus interviews and on and off campus recruitment for the students, who are prepared for placements right from the second semester onwards. They are trained to develop both soft and technical skills. Special classes on self-development and communication are arranged to enable them to face interviews, general and technical aptitude tests are conducted to improve technical knowledge and tests are also conducted to check their expertise in a particular field or language. The students of this department have immense potential for job opportunities in multinational software companies like Infosys, Wipro, Intel, TCS, Honeywell, HP, Caritor, Accenture etc.
