With the dawn of open source mobile platform Android, people across the globe have started developing Android Application and have made it an integral part of our life. Form gaming to Health care, everything is available on your fingertips. Like Android device, Android Application Development is also popular among the people as it serves business as well as entertainment requirements at the most competitive rates. We have identified this area of growing interest and thought of making faculties and students equipped with the knowledge of developing Android apps. But since android not the only platform available, there is a need to develop platform specific applications. To overcome this scenario, we will be imparting skill based knowledge on developing Hybrid- applications. This workshop will give an upper hand in the world of ever growing competition.


2-Days workshop on "Python for Data Analytics with Hands-on"

In this new era of Computing, we come across new Technologies, tools and frameworks to make our computing life simple. Since computer science is a Dynamic niche, our Knowledge needs to be updated with most recent technologies, The Workshop concentrates on technologies related to the Industrial practices of Python Programming, At the end of this session the participants would have gained a good exposure on python programming and related technologies. It is a widely used high-level, general-purpose, interpreted, dynamic programming language. Its design philosophy emphasizes code readability, and its syntax allows programmers to express concepts in fewer lines of code than possible in languages such as C++ or Java. The language provides constructs intended to enable clear programs on both a small and large scale.

Python supports multiple programming paradigms, including object-oriented, imperative and functional programming or procedural styles. It features a dynamic type system and automatic memory management and has a large and comprehensive standard library.

Python interpreters are available for many operating systems, allowing Python code to run on a wide variety of systems. Using third-party tools, such as Py2exe or Pyinstaller, Python code can be packaged into stand-alone executable programs for some of the most popular operating systems, so Python-based software can be distributed to, and used on, those environments with no need to install a Python interpreter.

Data analytics (DA) is the science of examining raw data with the purpose of drawing conclusions about that information. Data analytics is used in many industries to allow companies and organization to make better business decisions and in the sciences to verify or disprove existing models or theories.


5 Days Hands-on Workshop on “Internet of Things (IoT): Architecture, Challenges & Applications”

Keeping in mind the latest advances in information and networking technologies, the department of ISE has conducted a 5-days Workshop on IoT with Hands-on training for interested faculties and post graduate students. The Internet of Things (IoT) is the network of physical objects or "things" embedded with electronics, software, sensors, and network connectivity, which enables these objects to collect and exchange data. The Internet of Things allows objects to be controlled remotely across existing network infrastructure, creating opportunities for more direct integration between the physical world and computer based systems, and resulting in improved efficiency, accuracy and economic benefit; when IoT is augmented with sensors and actuators, the technology becomes an instance of the more general class of cyber-physical systems, which also encompasses technologies such as smart grids, smart homes, intelligent transportation and smart cities.

2-Days Hands-On Workshop on “Android Application Development”

2-Days Hands-On Workshop on Android Application Development was conducted in June 2015. The prime focus of this workshop was to familiarize students with programming paradigms associated with Android Application Design. The course contents were designed to guide students in the world of Android Development. It included introduction to android platform, its advantages, supported IDEs, Setting up of environments, use of SDK manager and AVD manager, Designing Hello World App, Introduction to types of Layouts, integration of layouts, activity, fragments and services. The workshop was organized jointly under the banner of Departmental Forum "Sangyartham" and HOLLA Digital Technologies Pvt. Ltd. The resource person Mr. Suhas Holla (Founder of Holla Digital Technologies) himself delivered lectures and conducted Hands-on sessions. The overall feedback by participants was good.

A Hands-On Five Day Workshop on Hybrid Computing and Its Application.

The multi-core CPUs and many-core GPUs, and their integration within a single machine, have given rise to a new class of heterogeneous architectures. Such heterogeneity can be observed in popular desktops as well as in each node of several of the world's fastest supercomputers.

Heterogeneous computing is becoming ubiquitous because it offers high computing power. The performance of properly designed software by considering CPU-GPU hybrid architecture will be very efficient. The popularity of such heterogeneous architectures is largely due to the need for both high performance and power efficiency.

Hybrid architecture brings its own challenges for software developers. For instance a programmer must consider the CPU-GPU hybrid architecture when writing a program in-order take advantage of the hybrid architecture. Addressing these challenges will be essential for computing excellence.

HPC (high performance computing) applications need more computing power. To produce such computing power we need high end hardware. Systems having both multicore CPUs and accelerators like GPUs are widely adopted in high-performance computing. The presence of parallelism in HPC applications make them as ideal candidates for many-core GPUs.

To develop applications for multi CPU/Cores, some parallel programming models were adopted, such as OpenMP and MPI. To enable development of applications on GPUs, programming models, such as CUDA, OpenCL, OpenACC etc. were created. In order to achieve the maximum performance in hybrid multicore-CPU and many core-GPU systems, it is essential to balance workload between CPU cores and GPUs, taking into account heterogeneity of processors. However, load balancing on this platform is complicated by several factors, such as resource contention, limited local memory on GPUs, communication speed etc.

This workshop helps in understanding the nature of the CPU-GPU hybrid architecture and its advantages. The workshop will help attendees understand the challenges that must be addressed to take full advantage of this hybrid architecture. The workshop also has hands-on session on CUDA and OpenACC.
