One of the core branches of engineering studies-the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering was started in the year 2001. Electrical Engineering was renamed as Electrical and Electronics Engineering due to the wide applications of Electronics in Controlling and Protecting the electrical equipments and systems.
The major thrust in this branch is related to the basic principles and detailed analysis of different types of equipments and systems for generation, transmission, distribution and utilization of electrical energy. It covers the study of electronic devices and circuits involved in measurement, instrumentation, control and protection of electrical equipments and conversion systems, concept of computer and related applications of computer based systems in design, analysis and efficient operation of power system, maintaining quality and security.
During the B.E. program, the students develop analytical skills and reasoning power along with computer knowledge and programming skills. This helps them to gain employment also as software professionals. |

The various laboratories in the department are Electrical machines lab, Electrical circuits and Measurements lab, High Voltage and Relay lab, Analog Electronics lab, Digital Electronics lab, Control Systems lab, Microprocessor lab and Power system simulation lab.
The department organizes industrial visits, technical lectures by experts from industries and institutes on contemporary areas to bridge the gap between syllabus and current developments. |
