Departmental Associations

The student branch association CRYPTEC organizes various activities throughout the year. All students of the department are members of the association. CRYPTEC also conducts the annual technical fest known as CONCEVOIR. Various technical events like, ANUVA-Technical Quiz, ATHINDRIYA-On Spot Programming, ADHYASA-Web Page Designing, CHAYAKRUTHI-Stenography, SAMARPANAM-Paper Presentation, ANVESHANA-Decipher the cipher Text, NYUNIKARNA-Technical Debate are conducted under the banner of CONCEVOIR.

The department is bringing out a bi-annual newsletter ARETHA, which means “The Best” in Sanskrit. The first volume of ARETHA was published in the year 2008. Since 2009, the Newsletter is published twice a year.

Professional Associations

Faculty members and students are provided opportunities to join as member of professional societies such as IEEE, CSI, ISTE and IE. The department is associated with the Computer Society of India-Student Chapter. This Chapter has a core committee of 25 students and 12 executive faculty members who organize activities like conferences, seminars, workshops, paper presentation, IT Soft Skill Development, students' convention, etc. Activities focused on globalization of the IT education, increased awareness on technology trends, students student innovation and creation of a bridge between the students and the IT industry.


The CRYPTEC student forum of the year 2016-17 kicked of with a talk by Dr. Y N SRIKANT Senior Professor, Department of Computer Science and Automation, IISC, Bangalore. The topic was “Green Computing”

In May 2015, Uma Shama, Ph.D. Professor of Mathematics & Computer Science Co-Director, GeoGraphics Laboratory Science & Mathematics Center Bridgewater State University Bridgewater, MA 02325, USA, talked on “Network Communications in the Intelligent Transportation Systems Applications”

The Computer Science & Engineering department inaugrated the CRYTEC branch in 2013. Dr. C.P. Ravikumar, University Relations, Texas Instruments, India presided over the function as the chief guest. Prof. N. R. Shetty, Director, NMIT and Dr. H.C. Nagaraj, Principal, NMIT presided over the function.

3 Technical talk by Mr. Abhay S Bharadwaj on “Implementing wireless Communication using RF modules” is organized on 3rd September 2016. This is organized to support the course work on “Introduction to Embedded Systems”
4 Technical Talk on “Implementing Wireless Communication using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth” on 29th August 2016 by Mr. Abhay S Bharadwaj, Device design Engineer, Frugal Labs Tech Solutions Pvt Ltd, Bangalore.
5 Under the banner of CRYPTEC –in association with CSI, the department of CSE organised a guest Lecture on “Role of Network Layer in Computer Networks” by Dr.T.G.Basavaraju, Professor and HOD, Department of CSE, Govt.SKSJTI, Bangalore
6 CRYPTEC In Association With Computer Society of India (CSI) arranged a guest lecture by Ms.Shubhakumara, Deputy General Manager, Larsen & Toubro on “ Implications of Certification requirements on planning of Software projects” at NMIT

Hackamania 2016 – The Bangalore Edition

The Cryptec association under the department of CSE conducted a hackathon presented by the Nasscomm 1000 series with the price worth INR 10 Lakh to be won. It was conducted for all the students of NMITon the 27th and 28th of October. The students of NMIT participated actively in the hackathon.
