WORKSHOP & TRAINING

Remote Sensing, Geographical Information System and Global Navigation Satellite System

The Department of Civil Engineering was selected as one of the Centre for IIRS Outreach Programme. The department provided the opportunity for 5th Semester students to attend the workshop- Eighteenth IIRS Outreach Programme on Basics of “Remote Sensing, Geographical Information System and Global Navigation Satellite System” during August 22 – November 18, 2016. The workshop was organized by INDIAN INSTITUTE OF REMOTE SENSING, DEHRADUN. The event was co-ordinated by Mr. Santhosh L G, Asst. Professor, Civil Engg. during the entire period. The workshop included live online video training and interactions, practice sessions and examinations.

One Day Workshop on “Remote sensing Applications in the Field of Civil Engineering” for Civil Engineering students of 5th Semester, on 23rd September 2016. The workshop included four technical talks delivered by Industrial Experts: Dr. P P Nageswara rao, Outstanding Scientist, ISRO (Retd) &. Faculty Member, VTU-EC / KSRSAC, Dr. Veena Srinivasan, Scientist, ATREE, Mr. M N Srinivasan, Project Manager, Stup Consultants Pvt Ltd. Bangalore and Mr. Sriharsha, GIS Engineer - Promaax IT Solutions, Bengaluru. The workshop was co-ordinated by, Dr. Vidyavathi N, Professor, Ms. Archana Nayak, Associate professor, Mr. Santhosh L.G, Asst. professor, and Mrs. Manasa M, Asst. professor of Dept. of Civil Engg., NMIT.

The department organized and conducted the One Day Workshop on “Scope of Civil Engineering - Orientation Programme” for the Civil Engineering students of 3rd Semester, on 4th October 2016. During the event, Dr.B.S.Chandrasekhar Rao Former President, ACCE(I) and Mr. Jayashankar ,Vice-President (S), ICI-Technical South Zone, Ultratech Cement Ltd, delivered two technical talks for the students. The event was co-ordinated by Mr. Mahesh Kumar C.L, Asst.. Professor, Civil Engg., Mr. Umashankar Patil, Asst professor, Civil Engg., and Mrs. Shwetha K.G, Asst. Professor, Civil Engg. Sri B S C Rao, Past President – ACCE(I), Invited Expert Speaker, Mr.Jaisankar, Vice President- Technical, Ultratech Cements Ltd. Dynamic Behavior of Structures of SDOF and MDOF

Department of Civil Engineering conducted One day Technical Talk and Demonstration on “Dynamic Behavior of Structures of SDOF and MDOF” by Prof. Ranganath S, Dept. of Civil Engg., BMSCE, Bangalore on 5th December 2012. The event included demonstration in the laboratory for Civil Engineering students. The event was co-ordinated by Mrs. Arpitha M, Asst. Professor, Civil Engg.

Quiz Competition and Technical Talk

The department organized “Quiz Competition and Technical Talk” conducted by JSW Cements Ltd. Bangalore, for Civil Engineering students of 5th and 7th Semester, on 23rd October 2016. During the event, Anantha Kaushik, Regional Head, Technical, JSW Cements Ltd, delivered a technical talk. The event was co-ordinated by Ms. Snehal K, Asst. Professor, Civil Engg., and Mr. Prashanth S.P, Asst. Professor, Civil Engg. Two prizes were distributed to the winners of the Quiz Competition; Abhikanth, 7th Semester, Civil Engineering, and Shubham Agarwal, 5th Semester, Civil Engineering won First and Second prize respectively.
